Formability and interface structure of Al/Mg/Al composite sheet rolled by hard-plate rolling (HPR)

How to improve the bonding ability and quality performance of heterogeneous plates has always been one difficult problems in field high-performance composite sheet forming manufacturing. In this paper, a new manufacturing method clad plate, hard plate rolling is proposed. The hot process Al/Mg/Al slab with or without was studied. results show that shear stress direction (RD) can be transformed into compressive normal (ND), then welding pressure between different layers increased. This suppress bending edge crack defects significantly shape ability. At same time, through study interface structure it known metallurgical achieved small reduction after adding plate. Two clear Al3Mg2 Al17Mg12 intermetallic compounds appear at Al/Mg interface. thickness diffusion layer larger than traditional hot-rolled reach 38 μm when 60%. yield strength 172.3 MPa elongation 21.5%.
